Description
The Good Hope 65 Berdie Frances is an aluminium expedition sailing yacht designed by Ed Joy and built by Jacobs Brothers Boat Builders in Cape Town. Engineered for serious offshore cruising, she combines rugged construction with a powerful and efficient sail plan, prioritising simplicity, strength, and reliability.
Her lifting keel and pivoting rudder allow exploration of shallow bays while maintaining strong offshore performance, with the added benefit of drying out for maintenance at low tide. The flush foredeck and pilothouse layout are optimised for passagemaking, with a seagoing galley, navigation and helm station, and generous accommodation including three private staterooms.
Sparcraft Masts designed and manufactured the mast, standing and running rigging, and supplied the Profurl staysail and genoa furlers. The rig package is engineered to meet the demands of extended blue-water sailing, where durability and performance are essential.
