Description:
The Balance 502 is a high-performance cruising catamaran developed for sailors seeking speed, balance, and serious offshore capability without compromising comfort. Designed by Du Toit Yacht Design and built in Cape Town, the 50-foot platform reflects the Balance range’s focus on weight control, efficient sail plans, and refined hydrodynamics for fast, safe passagemaking.
For Hull 1, Sparcraft Masts supplied the mast, boom, standing and running rigging, crossbeam, longitudinal, and integrated anchor launch system. The rig configuration is engineered to support the yacht’s powerful yet manageable sail plan, optimising both upwind efficiency and offwind performance.
The sail handling package combines a Profurl manual genoa furler with a Facnor electric screecher furler, allowing flexible sail control across varying wind strengths and points of sail. The overall rig system complements the Balance 502’s reputation as a performance-oriented cruising catamaran capable of sustained ocean passagemaking at speed.
The first Balance 502 was launched in late 2025 in Cape Town
